The China Dynasty Story
Est. 1984 - Present
In 1984 Your King Chen and his wife May Pao opened the first China Dynasty on William Cannon, located on a little hill just big enough to fit around ten tables. It was a tough beginning, but with the help of family and friends the restaurant slowly turned into a local’s favorite.
Five years later, as Chinese American food continued to grow popular in Austin, Your King Chen decided that it was time to expand. In 1989 with the help of their kids, China Dynasty was moved to the Tangle Wood Shipping Center, where it still stands today.
40 years and counting the business has long been passed down to their children. Their grand kids also have since joined the Dynasty, making China Dynasty three generations, and one of the longest lasting family owned Chinese American restaurant in Austin, Texas. Throughout all these years, China Dynasty continues to still stay true to their roots of a family business.
